The phone call that could get Trump impeached

The phone call that could get Trump impeached

It started out like a typical phone call between
two world leaders: “Congratulations on a great victory.” Earlier in the year, Volodymyr Zelensky defeated
the incumbent to become President of Ukraine. And now, his political party had won a majority
in parliament. “We all watched from the United States and
you did a terrific job.” “I would like to confess to you that I had
an opportunity to learn from you. We used quite a few of your skills and knowledge…” But minutes later, this conversation took
a turn with a single line from Trump. “I would like you to do us a favor, though…” What Trump said next — according to a rough
transcript released by the White House — forms the core of the impeachment proceedings against
him. It could end his presidency. Let’s back up a month before the call. Congress had approved $391 million in military
aid to Ukraine to help defend against Russia. But Trump told his staff to withhold that
money… he wanted to talk with Zelensky first. After sharing pleasantries, Trump quickly
changed the subject. He alluded to the billions of dollars in military
aid the US has given Ukraine in the last few years “… the United States has been very very
good to Ukraine. I wouldn’t say that it’s reciprocal necessarily
because things are happening that are not good but, the United States has been very
very good to Ukraine.” I wouldn’t say it’s reciprocal. In other words, Ukraine owed him something. “Yes you are absolutely right.” Zelensky then told Trump… he’s ready to
cooperate. “I would also like to thank you for your great
support in the area of defense. We are ready to continue to cooperate for
the next steps…” “I would like you to do us a favor though
….” Trump ran through a few requests — and then
he got to this one. “There’s a lot of talk about Biden’s son,
Let’s pause here. At the time of this call,
Joe Biden was the leading candidate to run against Trump in 2020. Polls from just before the call showed voters
preferred Biden to Trump by a wide margin. When he picked up the phone to call Zelensky,
Joe Biden was a huge threat to Trump’s re-election. That’s why what he said next is so important:
whatever you can do with the Attorney General would be great …
if you can look into it … it sounds horrible to me. Trump has this theory about Joe Biden, and
it has to do with his son, Hunter. Back in 2014, Hunter took a cushy job at a
Ukrainian gas company, Burisma. As it turns out, the British were investigating
the owner of this same company for money laundering. And they asked Ukraine’s top prosecutor, Victor
Shokin, to pursue this case. Because investigating corruption… was his
job. But Shokin ignored them. And Burisma’s owner was never prosecuted. It wasn’t the first time Shokin had failed
to investigate corruption. And people in Ukraine were fed up. “Activists, MPs, and ordinary citizens have
come together to demand the resignation of the Prosecutor General, Viktor Shokin.” We don’t even believe that this prosecution
can be reformed because it doesn’t exist!” They weren’t alone. Around the same time as the protests, eight
Senators, including three Republicans, signed a letter calling for “urgent reforms in
the Prosecutor General’s office.” Basically, a bunch of people were pushing
for Shokin to go. Including the Obama administration, who sent
Biden to deal with it: “I went over, I guess, the 12th, 13th time
to Kiev. And I was supposed to announce that there
was another billion-dollar loan guarantee. I looked at them and said: I’m leaving in
six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you’re not
getting the money. Well, son of a bitch. (Laughter.) He got fired.” “Ukraine’s embattled prosecutor general
is no longer in office.” But in the call with the Ukrainian President,
Trump hinted that Shokin was fired for a different reason. “I heard you had a prosecutor who was very
good and he was shut down and that’s really unfair. ”
Then Trump explained why he thought Joe Biden might’ve been behind Shokin’s dismissal. “There’s a lot of talk about Biden’s son,
that Biden stopped the prosecution…Biden went around bragging that he stopped the prosecution
so if you can look into it… It sounds horrible to me.” Alright, so what’s the favor Trump is asking
for here? It looks like he’s asking Zelensky for some
proof that Joe Biden pushed to get Shokin fired to protect Hunter. Which doesn’t even make sense, because Shokin
was fired in part for not investigating Burisma. But if Zeleksky could help Trump make it look
like Biden had done something shady, it could help Trump win re-election. Zelensky agreed. He promised his next prosecutor would look
into this situation. “Thank you Mr. President. Bye-bye.” Several staffers listened in on this phone
call and wrote down what was said. That’s normal. What’s not normal is what happened next. Instead of putting the records of the call
in the normal archive, where more people within the U.S. government would have been able to
see it… Trump’s staffers hid the transcript in a
computer system reserved for classified material, even though this call had no reason to be
classified. Multiple White House officials were worried
the president had crossed a line — and they told a C.I.A. officer, who wrote to Congress: “I have received information from multiple
U.S. Government officials that the President of
the United States is using the power of his office to solicit interference from a foreign
country in the 2020 U.S. election.” Meanwhile, a few weeks later, Trump released
the $391 million in aid to Ukraine. There have been many Trump scandals What’s different about this … is it’s so
simple. President Trump directly asked a foreign leader
to investigate his political opponent. And influence the 2020 election. Then his staff tried to cover it up. It’s a simple phone call. But it could show that Trump is abusing the
office of the president, in an effort to hold onto power. And it could end his Presidency if enough
members of Congress believe it should.

  1. To understand exactly how the process of impeachment works, from inquiry to removal, watch our video "How to impeach a president" https://youtu.be/JRtJXnsUYBc

  2. Get him impeached? More like RE-ELECTED! 2020

Trump cracking down on corruption is an amazing thing! – a lot better than Russia-gate with no evidence at all whatsoever xD

This one screams Red Flags ‼️‼️❗💥

  3. Then why would they declassify it then? Couldn’t have he just cover it up indefinatly if it was that bad? Sounds to me that nothing really happened!

  4. This video is missing a lot of information about Joe Biden and also the Mueller report of 2016 witchhunt and who was spying and there's more to the story than what is being told here so this video is not true.

  5. I don't think it's going to be one thing. He's proven to be pretty immune to scandals, even when doing and saying horrible things. It's been this way since 2016. It's more likely to be a "straw that broke the camels' back" situation. Eventually the things he does will pile on so high that enough people will turn their backs on him. Whether this will happen soon enough to make an effective difference is a different question, of course.

  6. He asked him to Investigate a crime,,,,,which they are OBLIGATED TO DO. Clinton signed a Treaty with the Ukrain Requiring this Very Thing. Check it out.

  7. When trump WINS the next election by way of votes from the american people, we will KNOW who the minority against him is ! Proving this video DESPERATE with cause , you will be discovered in the shadows when the light comes upon you and there is no shadow left.

  8. So, Trump asked Zelenskyy to investigate and find the TRUTH, and that is an impeachable offense. I guess all of our Presidents should have been impeached.

  9. Until you realize the manuscript was released and that “Whistleblower” was Incorrect, perhaps you should attend some direct research.

  10. Thank you guys so much for breaking this down. Because there are a lot of people who may not understand the news headlines or the importance of everything that's going on. So thank you.

  11. And my friends say that the United States is the backbone of democracies around the world, in reality it’s filled with corruption

  12. Hopefully he won't sqeak his way out of this one. He always seems to slither his way out…IMPEACH this orange guy now. So we can all get back to a little normalcy in the USA….God bless america!!!!!

  13. Well Obama paid a British spy to investigate his opponent, at least President Trump got his information for free. Good businessman if he did it at all at least he didn't spend our money.Oh and to hire a British spy to meddle in our election sure has that foreign interference ring to it at least to me.

  14. If Biden is innocent, then he has nothing to fear?

Or is the son a democrat beyond investigation?

I guess they are scared of the truth

  15. Reality is Ukraine President did not know about $391 millions money. There is no "Quid pro quo" because He did not know. Impossible to exist . No "Quid pro quo"!

  16. Oh so this is next russia !!!!
When donald trump colluded with russians (or so do you say) it is trump's
fault and when dems colluded with the other gov it is still trumps fault !! 🤐🤐🤐🤐

  17. Theory? Wow…tired of politicians taking money from us and filtering thru other countries to get back in their pockets..that's how they are getting rich! Investigate that b..ch!!

  18. That's so awesome jumping single quotes to fit ur narrative. Read the whole line. "I would like you to do a favor though because our country has been through a lot and Ukraine knows a lot about it. I would like you to find out what happened with this whole situation with Ukraine, they say the crowdstrike.. .." he is talking about Ukraine stuff.. and the "do me a favor" is a just a saying not a statement. Like "do me a favour and tell Dad I'm hungry"… It's twisting language to fit ur narrative and it's disgusting and I am not a trump supporter …

  19. Isn't this just political strategy? Because if Joe Biden used his position to get his son a hefty pie job, that's a conflict of interest. That may fly in a Dictatorship, but the last I checked, the USA 🇺🇸 is not governed by a Dictatorship. So once again, the democrats get caught in things.

  20. it does make sense actually…Biden wanted to make sure he got fired so he wouldn't have the chance to look into Hunter.

  21. 30-minute conversation becomes most important moment in American history.

Forget about Declaration of Independance, Civil War, 2 World Wars, Women’s Suffrage, Civil Rights movement…9/11…

    This moment is BIGGER.

    GIVE ME A BREAK, VOX.

  22. Ok but can I get context to the statements because you can clip parts from someone talking and shift the meaning of the words.

  23. BLESING FALING From Sky!
By Liars & Corupted Trashed Congress Politicians,
FOR WE THE GREATER PpL USA & Proud Nationalists,
NOW ENERGIZED POWER VOTE THE SUPERHERO POTUS DjT45 2020 KAG & BEYOND.
    ❤️❤️ 🇺🇸🇺🇸

  24. One point. Biden was and never will be a threat to Trump in an election. This shows nothing. Except left wing socialists trying to destroy this country.

  25. I still do not know what the crime is. It is not a crime in America to be immoral or unethical. That is the status quo of politics everywhere in the world. Impeaching a president for being a politician seems a little bit hypocritical Nancy.

  26. shouldn't that whistleblower be in jail?, how can someone have access to classified phone calls and make those publicly?

  27. There was nothing but a friendly conversation, there's nothing bad to impeach trump. Vote for Trump 🇺🇸2020 murica 🇺🇸

  28. 4:36 …which doesn't even make sense since Shokin was fired in part for not investigating Burisma.
How did Vox come to this conclusion? Perhaps in general terms Shokin was not pursuing corruption, but is there proof he was covering for Burisma? He filed an affadavit indicating the investigation was still active and that Porochenko and the US were exerting pressure for him to end it. So why would Shokin be lying in his affadavit?

  29. Are you serious. Every democrat searched and searched for evidence that trump rigged 2016 election. But not that trump asked for some info on the other side now everyone freaks out

  30. Why are all of VOX’s videos bashing the United States in some way America is a amazing country it’s just very sad to see a YouTube Chanel only show the bad side of this wonderful country

  31. Thanks for breaking this down into simple facts. The news has made it impossible to understand what happened and what is going, every moment is sensationalized in the new to the point of meaninglessness. I'm not making any judgement about right or wrong. I just wanted the basic facts. I have them now, thanks.

  32. The fact is that this phone call is not impeachable. However, the law allows Democrats to impeach Trump without any crime or evidence, just if they do not like him. It is up to the voter to react in 2020.

  33. So let's get this straight. Hunter Biden gets paid 50k a month for something he knows nothing about, daddy steps in to get someone fired and threaten to hold a billion dollars if not done and trump is wrong for wanting to investigate it. Democrats have been trying to impeach him since day 1. This only makes him stronger in the election

  34. Trump: "You need military aid? "I have a FAVOR, THOUGH" — The word THOUGH, tells Ukraine that they will not GET AID until Zelensky fabricated a story about Biden being somehow doing something wrong. Trump thought his 'impeachment' would help him win in 2020 and it's just destroying him. So hilarious how out of gas the GOP is and EVERY Republican politician has put PARTY over Country.

  35. Is there a website that explains exactly what "interference" meens in this situation…is it a very broad term? interference could be anything from having someone killed, or knocking over a vote for Hillary sign on some guys lawn in Ohio. There's a billion different ways some can 'interfere/ tamper' with something…A more specific example would be nice.

  36. Trump can’t lose period .. get it through your heads , impeachment is never gonna happen..he was born to win just accept it

  37. Thank u so much for this video, ive been trying to find out why he was getting impeached but they over explain that stuff thanks

  38. I was a Trump supporter we voted for the wrong businessman last time lets get it right this time and get Andrew Yang in office

  39. If it was me I would like to know who is corrupt and not it’s called draining the swamp this was nothing about 2020 and why should America be the only country to provide assistance to Ukraine I would do the same and I think any good person would do the same for the good of America and the American people

  40. Let me get this straight….So joe Bidens son was hunting in Russia and trump asked the guy from honey I shrunk the kids to prosecute general victor because he gave the shocker to his wife?

  41. So what if Biden was guilty… why is his son working with someone alleged to be involved in money laundering? Is anyone looking into that?

  42. Ukranian prosecutor got paid off not to investigate Burisma and then Biden made sure he got fired because otherwise it would look suspicious and would enrage the people of Ukraine even more if he stayed on the position while ignoring the corruption. Well thought through by Biden, but someone with a brain can look into it. Also, to those who are questioning Burisma's filth – that's not the point. What Vox and Trump's opposition is saying is he used illegal tools to remain with power, that's why he can possibly get impeached. But then, Joe Biden as well won't get to have the power, cause he'll as well be prosecuted.

  43. Lol the idea that Biden would beat trump in the general is laughable. Trump wants Biden to be his opponent because he is a senile old man.

  44. Background information that is not well known to most US Americans is that Ukraine had surrendered nuclear missles left from the USSR collapse because of assurrances by the US and NATO for support against Russia. To unilaterally withhold Congressionally (bipartisan) approved deliveries of missles by a megalomaniac is precisely why our founding fathers created Impeachment and removal from office for high crimes and misdemeanors – and there certainly was a quid pro quo although that is not even required for impeachment but is in itself an abuse of power.

On a side note it will be interesting to learn the decision of the Supreme Court regarding Trump's efforts to end "Obama Care" and deport the recipients.

    AHO! Bless
