The NHL’s Most Driven Fans: Chicago Blackhawks

It’s great at home, but it’s different and it’s
really good on the road. Chicago Blackhawks fans are notorious for going to away games. – Let’s go Black– – Go Hawks! These are the
fans who follow their team into enemy territory. This is Andy Arnold,
and this is his story. We go to almost all the home games, but you feel like you should
really try and bring it when you’re on the road. People point out my jersey. It’s probably been to probably 350 games. I was wearing it when the
Hawks won the Cup in Philly, and in Boston, and then
at home against Tampa. A lot of people say, “Why
would you wear that jersey?” “It’s got all the autographs on it,” “it should be in a frame somewhere.” But, it’s been a good luck charm. We bring people out. They think it’s kinda
goofy to go to a road game. – Have a great time at the game. They say, “Why you
guys always say that’s fun?” But I don’t know…
Once they go, then they’re kinda hooked. This should be our 35th road game. And when you’re out on
the road you cheer harder. You have maybe 30 or 40% of the crowd, but we’re making 60% of the noise. We get an incredible
following on the road, especially in some of those
destination cities like Phoenix. Some of those games literally
feel like home games when you go into an
opposition’s, that building, and all of a sudden you hear
the screaming and cheering. The atmosphere of that and
being in another team’s arena and listening to the crowds just screaming when the Hawks score.
Yeah, it means a lot. It makes it easy to go on a road game. You just feel like you’re
part of a community doing something unique and special. It’s really worth it. I would strongly encourage,
get four, six, eight people, pick a city that you wanna see, and go make a nice road trip out of it. It’s been a great ride. Hope it continues.
