What’s going on? Little dap. It’s Jared Montz
former pro and founder of OnlineSoccerAcademy.com. Today we are learning how to get out of slump.
Soccer Advice Description: Tips on Soccer
A slump happens when you are depressed, your confidence is down and you are making a lot
of mistakes on the field. Slumps happen to players of all levels including pros. First step to getting over a slump is to recognize
you are in one and that you need to do something about it. The Key is to get your confidence
back! Key Points: Coaching Soccer
1. Take a break! If you can, take a few days off from practice and relax. Training on your
own 4 hours at a time 7 days a week with low confidence won’t help, it will make it worse.
Take 2 days off. Go watch a movie, hang out with friends or sit by the pool. The point
is to relax your body and take your mind off the game for a bit. You will start to miss
the game in a few days, that is the itch to get back out there! 2. Work on your mental game. Watch our “How
to be Confident” and “How Not to Be Nervous Before a Game” videos. Those videos will help
you a lot. Practice what they say. You work on your physical game a lot, don’t forget
about your mental game. 3. Don’t try to change the past. You made
mistakes, you didn’t play well… welcome to the club! We have all been there. Focus
on what you can control which is playing great and moving forward. 4. Focus on having more fun when you play.
Your first session back from a slump, your goal should be to have fun and enjoy being
out there again. What Player Could Be Doing Wrong: Soccer Tips
If you beat yourself up for every mistake you make you will continue you in a slump.
We all make mistakes. Watch our video on “How to Handle a Mistake” by clicking here. Don’t

  1. Thanks! That's a tough one. Have them watch our "how to be aggressive" video. But what I would really try is talking to them privately. Ask them how they are doing and how they like the team. Ask them if they are scared to mess up or make a mistake. Lots of times shy players are. If they are, tell them that you and your teammates trust them and that you don't care if they mess up, you just care if they work hard. Be positive with them & it may help.

  2. If it's a case of them just not caring because they are to cool or something then you are pretty much out of luck. Just don't let that attitude bring you or your other teammates that care attitude's down.

  3. I wish I knew how to add height! Sorry, I'm not a miracle worker. Height comes naturally and through genetics. 12. Glad I can help. Getting seen is a tough one. Each player from different parts of the world have their own unique challenges to getting seen. Basically you need to create your own luck. So do your best to get on a team that is going to big tournaments, showcase events, or playing in big games where pro scouts are going to be. Don't think scouts will find you, you need to do your best to find them. Then ultimately play well when you get your chance. Hope that helps!

Practice a lot on juggling, technique, passing, dribbling, speed of play, etc. I have videos for all of that. Juggling is important because it improves ball control. So the more you can juggle, the better soccer player you will be.

  27. You can if you want to toe poke. Sometimes the situation calls for it. Though usually you don't toe poke balls because they are less accurate.

  33. Thank you for making this video. Every time I am upset about something (not just soccer) i watch this video and it helps me stop being sad. 🙂

  34. I was in a slump for 9 months. Then, at the beginning of high school soccer this year, I decided to make a change. I took a few days break, and like in your video, I felt the "itch". 😉 I started training again, I studied soccer, trained in my yard, and conditioned to make sure I was on the top of my game. Most importantly, I made sure I was relaxed and not anxious. Then, when the day came, I played great, and I refuse to falter. 🙂 I appreciate the mental side of the game a lot more now. 🙂

  35. So proud of you! Congrats! You are a Believe in it® Athlete! Keep working on the mental side of your game!
