BRAD EVANS: Another week, another major fantasy injury. Oh, that relentless injury imp. How menacing and devastating he can be. The latest victim? Julian Edelman, who suffered a Jones fracture in his foot. It looks like he is done-zo for the rest of the regular season. Could be back for the postseason, so keep them in mind for DFS in that second season. But this is an injury that obviously is devastating for fantasy owners, particularly those in PPR settings. Julian Edelman has been a top five option in such a format. So who stands to benefit most? Well, it’s Danny Amendola, who has got the tackiest flytraps of any wide receiver in the NFL this season. He is leading the league in catch percentage with 87, and a guy that is basically going to be an extension of the run, and probably fill that void brilliantly for the absent Edelman. Last week, he was magnificent filling in for Julian. A guy that was targeted 11 times, caught 10 balls for 79 yards, in New York against the G-men. And if you look at the rest of season’s schedule for the New England Patriots, there are a number of delectable match-ups upcoming against the likes of Buffalo, who they play this week. They’ve allowed the 11th most fantasy points of wide receiver position. Philadelphia, which ranks top three in that category. Houston, Tennessee, and the Jets, to a certain extent, although Darrelle Revis could neutralize him in fantasy Super Bowl games. So Amendola, only 30% owned in Yahoo leagues, is a must-grab. Whether you’re in PPR or Standard Leagues, I think he could be a backend wide receiver run moving forward.
