EVAN DOHERTY: I’m Evan Doherty joined by Arizona Cardinal’s cornerback Jerraud Powers. As a team, you guys have 12 defensive TDs since 2013. That’s the most in the NFL. Do you think that changes the way the opposing offense has really game planned against you guys? JERRAUD POWERS: I mean, I would think so. I mean, we have a lot of play-makers on our defense and guys been known for getting turnovers and taking it to the paint and it’s just a matter of us just helping our offense out. Offensive coordinators probably don’t necessarily do anything different in their game plan because of what we’re doing on defense so far as scoring touchdowns. But for us, we know it’s going to benefit our offense and that’s one of our main jobs– to help those guys out as much as we can. EVAN DOHERTY: Well, what do you guys do to change your game plan when you get that opportunity and get a pick and you know you have the chance to take it back, how does that change your mindset? JERRAUD POWERS: Aw, man. It gives us the most confidence and momentum in the world. No, we work on it in practice every time somebody gets a turnover, a pick, a fumble, no matter what it is, we take it to the house. And on Fridays, we got a drill where you can pick off– like during the defensive drill– you can pick off whatever route you envision and things like that. And you just got to get the ball and score. So it’s something we work on and it’s paying off on Sundays. And, you know, it’s fun to watch as a fan. People around the league watching our defense, I know it’s fun to watch but it’s fun to play in it as well. EVAN DOHERTY: Well, you also know the fans have got to love the fact that you guys get into the end zone for fantasy purposes. Do you get any love for that on Twitter or social media? JERRAUD POWERS: Yeah, I had some guys from college call me the other day and is was like, I know you don’t want to hear this. I know you don’t care about fantasy, but you guys are scoring however many points it was on fantasy for me. Now everybody’s talking about, thanks and I appreciate it and all that. But no, we don’t worry about it. We definitely embrace the love that we get on defense and things like that. But we also know, you know, it’s just three games into the year. A lot can change. And we know we still have a lot we need to work on.
